Frequently Asked Questions

Have your own questions?

Q: What is the difference between Keep Fill & Will Call

A: Keep Fill is when we manage your propane tank. We automatically deliver when your propane level is between 20-25%. You will have a Credit Card on file to automatically charge, or use Pre-Buy/Budget Gallons for payment. Keep in mind, if you make a propane change, please let our office know as this could skew your usage.

Without letting our office know, you could either run out or we could deliver too early.

Will Call is when customers manage their own propane usage.  We ask that you call when your tank reads between 25-30% and we will deliver to you on the next scheduled delivery day to your area. Each week we will be in your neighborhood on the same day, so you will have an opportunity weekly to place an order.

Q: How can a customer save money when buying Propane?

A: Customers should always take advantage of our programs that we offer. The best price available to fill your tank is during our Summer Fill Program.  Get filled during the summer to get ready for the winter heating season!  Then, participate in our Summer Pre-Buy Program. This is the best Pre-Buy that we offer!  Summer Pre-Buy typically is lower in price than our Fall Pre-Buy Program.  This Pre-Buy also has Price Protection,  meaning that if the price should drop below the contracted price, you will always be given the lowest market price on the day of your delivery.

Q: How far should a 500 Gallon Propane Tank be away from a building when doing an installation?

A: A 500 gallon propane tank should be placed at least 10 feet away from a building and property lines.  Keep this in mind when you are setting a new tank.  Plan accordingly as the hose on the delivery truck only reaches 100 feet.

Q: Can I paint my LP Tank to match my house or landscaping décor?

A: This could present a safety issue as dark colors absorb heat while lighter colors reflect heat. Propane tanks need to reflect heat to work properly, so if painted, it is best to paint white.  If it is a Lease Tank from Northwoods Propane, we do not allow painting of the tanks.

Q: What is the purpose of a regulator on a propane tank?

A: The purpose of a regulator is to control the flow of gas & lower the pressure from the LP tank to all the appliances in the propane system.
